"Nature is Green" represents an ongoing environmental project organized by Shincheonji Volunteer Group. The project's objectives encompass wetland conservation, disaster recovery support, cleaning surroundings near key facilities and cultural assets, conducting public environmental awareness campaigns, and creating flower gardens in areas prone to illegal dumping. These efforts aim to pass down clean natural surroundings to future generations. During the Hakgok-ri event, participants cleared 300 liters of waste while systematically restoring clear views to essential traffic safety mirrors located at curved roads and intersections.

Event Overview

Event Details: Date, Location, Organizer, and Objectives

The event took place on the 16th in Hakgok-ri, Dongnae-myeon, Chuncheon-si. It was hosted and executed by the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Chuncheon branch. About 50 volunteers gathered to participate in the local neighborhood cleanup and mirror maintenance project.

The primary objective of this project was to enhance neighborhood aesthetics and establish a pleasant living environment for local residents. Additionally, the organizers aimed to improve traffic safety by removing dirt from street mirrors, thereby securing clear lines of sight for drivers navigating bends and intersections throughout the village.

Main Activities

Street Waste Collection and Road Mirror Washing Operations

During the event, 50 volunteers were divided into three operational teams. The teams traversed main roads, narrow alleys, and commercial zones frequented by residents to clear scattered litter. In total, the group collected 300 liters of general household waste, including cigarette butts, discarded banner vinyl, and plastic bottles.

Convex mirrors installed along roadways play a critical role in securing visibility for drivers on curved paths or at obscured intersections. Over time, these mirrors accumulate dust, grime, and environmental residue that obscure the reflective surface. Volunteers wiped down the dirty surfaces of these mirrors across the area, removing accumulated contaminants to ensure clearer vision for drivers and pedestrians.
