Through free haircut services and meaningful conversations, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group continues to build stronger community connections and emotional support for people with disabilities.
A Meaningful Day of Care and Connection in Nowon-gu
When I arrived at the open space in front of the Gongneung Branch of the Seoul Association of Physical Disabilities in Nowon-gu on May 22, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. On that day, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul East Branch organized a special volunteer activity for people with disabilities.
What stood out was that this event was not simply about cutting hair. It was about creating moments of connection, encouragement, and shared smiles within the local community.
Bringing Practical Help to People with Disabilities
A Service Designed for Everyday Needs
The volunteer program was organized to provide regular hair and beauty services for people with mobility challenges. For many individuals, receiving routine grooming services can be difficult due to limitations in transportation and daily activities.
A total of 11 volunteers participated in the event, including three certified beauty service volunteers. Throughout the day, haircut services were provided to people with disabilities who visited the site.
Watching the process, it became clear that every haircut represented more than a change in appearance. It offered convenience, confidence, and a sense of care from the surrounding community.

Conversations That Made the Day Special
More Than a Haircut
One of the most memorable aspects of the event was the interaction between volunteers and participants.
As haircuts were completed, conversations naturally followed. Volunteers asked about daily life, exchanged greetings, and listened attentively. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and appreciation.
Several participants expressed gratitude for the service, sharing how happy they felt with their new hairstyles. Their reactions highlighted how meaningful small acts of kindness can be in everyday life.
The event demonstrated that volunteer work is often most powerful when it combines practical assistance with emotional support.
Building Community Through Consistent Volunteer Service
Strengthening Social Connections
Representatives from the local disability association expressed appreciation for the continued volunteer efforts. They noted that seeing participants leave with smiles after receiving haircuts was always encouraging.
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group explained that beauty service volunteering is not only about personal grooming but also about connecting people and strengthening relationships within the community.
As I observed the event, one question remained in my mind: How can communities become warmer and more inclusive? The answer seemed visible throughout the day—in simple conversations, caring hands, and people taking time to serve others.
The commitment to continuing talent-sharing volunteer activities suggests that these connections will continue to grow in the future.
