On November 16, starting at 8:00 AM, the Guri-Namyangju branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group carried out an environmental cleanup campaign in the Dasan-dong area of Namyangju. The primary objective of this effort was to establish a pleasant, safe, and clean school route for neighborhood students during their morning commute.

The cleanup initiative was organized in response to a specific request from an office worker in a building located near the "Our Neighborhood Parking Lot" at 6051 Dasan-dong. This area faced recurring issues with illegal dumping each morning, including discarded cigarette butts and single-use plastic cups. These accumulating wastes were identified as negatively impacting the overall environment for students walking to nearby schools.

Starting early in the morning, volunteers from the Guri-Namyangju branch focused their cleanup efforts around the parking area and primary school travel paths. Due to high foot traffic, these locations had proven difficult to manage consistently, leading to unaddressed blind spots. By targeting these specific sections, the group managed to improve the overall street environment within a short timeframe.

During the activity, volunteer member Min-ho Park (45, alias, residing in Dasan-dong, Namyangju) observed the large volume of cigarette butts scattered across streets and flower beds, noting the urgency of the cleanup. He stated that while regular cleanup activities are vital, a fundamental shift in civic awareness against illegal dumping is essential.

A representative from the Guri-Namyangju branch shared that listening to local residents' input and offering a clean commute for students made the work meaningful. The representative added that the group intends to continue customized volunteer activities to foster a pleasant urban environment while coexisting with the local community.
