Throughout the past year, members of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group at Gimpo Church quietly carried out a wide range of volunteer activities, leaving behind meaningful traces of care and responsibility within the local community.
Rather than focusing on short-term events, these efforts reflected a long-term commitment to environmental protection, neighborly care, and cooperation with local volunteer networks.
A Year Defined by Consistency and Participation
Collective Effort Through Sustainable Volunteering
Over the course of the year, 625 volunteers participated in activities spanning approximately 100 days across five key service areas.
Through these ongoing efforts, around 5,600 local residents received direct or indirect support.
This scale of participation highlights how the Shincheonji Volunteer Group emphasizes continuity and collective responsibility over isolated acts of goodwill.
Diverse Volunteer Activities Rooted in Community Needs
Environmental Cleanup Through Plogging
Environmental cleanup activities, including plogging, began in late July 2024 and continued through the end of the year.
A total of over 400 volunteers took part in 73 cleanup sessions, collecting approximately 1,825 kilograms of waste around church surroundings, bus stops, and nearby main roads.
These efforts contributed to creating cleaner, safer public spaces for residents.
Community Meals and Support for Vulnerable Neighbors
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group at Gimpo Church also participated consistently in a community meal service organized by the local volunteer center.
Since 2024, the free meal and dishwashing service has been carried out 17 times, with 187 volunteers supporting meal distribution for vulnerable community members.
Acts of Respect and Seasonal Sharing
As the year came to a close, volunteers prepared and delivered 20 boxes of kimchi to six Korean War veterans, offering a gesture of respect and gratitude during the year-end season.
Recognition Through Cooperation and Trust
Through close cooperation with local volunteer centers and community partners, these sustained efforts were formally recognized with commendations from regional volunteer organizations.
Such recognition reflects not only the scale of activity but also the reliability built through consistent participation.
Looking Ahead With the Same Commitment
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group at Gimpo Church plans to continue environmental cleanup, sharing activities, and community-linked volunteer programs in the coming year.
