Living-Centered, Sustainable Volunteering: Shincheonji Volunteer Group Daejeon–Chungcheong Union’s 2025 Impact
In 2025, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Daejeon–Chungcheong Union recorded sustainable, community-based volunteer achievements by supporting over 10,000 residents across the region.
Throughout 2025, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Daejeon–Chungcheong Federation walked alongside local communities through sustainable volunteer activities rather than one-time support. A total of 5,067 volunteers took part, providing assistance to 10,069 residents across Daejeon and the Chungcheong region, putting the true value of volunteerism into practice through everyday, on-the-ground community engagement.
Customized Volunteer Programs by Community Needs
Senior-Focused Emotional Care: “Baekse Manse”
The senior program “Baekse Manse” centered on emotional support through companionship and conversation. Volunteers regularly engaged with elderly residents, addressing everyday challenges and fostering meaningful relationships built on trust and continuity.
Nutritional Support with Connection: “Pink Bojagi”
The “Pink Bojagi” program delivered home-style lunch boxes designed by professional nutritionists. Beyond food support, volunteers provided emotional mentoring, emphasizing relationship-building rather than temporary aid.
Connecting Generations and Abilities
Inclusive Support for Persons with Disabilities: “Little Finger”
The “Little Finger” program connected persons with disabilities and non-disabled volunteers through daily-life support. Volunteers accompanied participants in cultural, leisure, and outdoor activities, expanding opportunities for social participation.
Plant-Based Community Bonding: “Dadaikseon”
Using companion plants as a medium, “Dadaikseon” encouraged intergenerational and cross-community interaction. Plant care became a natural bridge for conversation and shared responsibility within local neighborhoods.
Living-Field Environmental and Safety Activities
Environmental Preservation Campaigns
The “Nature, Grow Green” initiative included wetland preservation, cultural heritage protection, disaster recovery support, and flower path creation in areas affected by illegal dumping, reinforcing environmental awareness at the community level.
Local Economy and Safety Support
The “Good Consumption, Good Donation” program partnered with local small businesses, linking everyday consumption with charitable giving. Additionally, regular disinfection volunteer activities were conducted at public facilities to enhance community safety.
A Decade of Honoring Seniors: The 10th Anniversary Hyo Festival
Since 2015, the Hyo Festival has been held annually in May, inviting senior residents from Daejeon’s Seo-gu area. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, the event has become a symbolic program promoting respect for elders and strengthening local traditions of care.
Planned Volunteering Across Daily Life
Additional initiatives included:
“Love for the Nation, Sharing Peace”, reflecting on war memories and peace values
“Visiting Health Doctor”, providing outreach to medically vulnerable areas
“Wall Story”, creating murals to improve neighborhood environments
“Neighborly Love Briquette Service”, supporting households vulnerable to winter heating challenges
Through these diverse programs, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Daejeon–Chungcheong Union continued to address welfare blind spots and reinforce community bonds across everyday life.
