Community outreach activities by Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch

Throughout the year, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch quietly stood beside those most in need.

From January 1 to December 17, over 600 volunteers participated in ongoing community service, reaching 2,847 vulnerable neighbors, including people with disabilities, seniors living alone, and Korean War veterans.

Rather than focusing on one-time events, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group pursued sustained, practical volunteer work that responded to real needs within the Seongnam community.

Expanded Support for Seniors Living Alone

Kimchi Sharing and Bread Donation Projects

Caring for seniors living alone was a key focus this year.

At the end of the year, the Seongnam Branch delivered 1,285 kg of kimchi to 148 households through local welfare centers and veterans’ organizations. Volunteers handled the entire process—from preparation and seasoning to packaging and delivery—ensuring sincerity reached each home.

In the second half of the year, young volunteers launched a monthly bread-baking service. Under the guidance of a veteran baker with 20 years of experience, volunteers directly participated in baking and menu planning. The freshly baked bread was delivered to 370 socially vulnerable residents, bringing both nourishment and comfort.

Emotional Care Beyond Material Support

The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch also made regular visits to nursing facilities, offering haircuts, recreational programs, and companionship. These activities emphasized emotional connection, recognizing that true care extends beyond material aid.

Leading Environmental Cleanup Efforts

Environmental responsibility was another pillar of the Seongnam Branch’s activities.

More than 300 volunteers participated in weekly plogging campaigns, collecting 765 liters of household waste across riversides, parks, and major roads.

On special occasions such as Arbor Day and Earth Day, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group combined cleanup activities with succulent and lettuce seedling distributions, recycling art workshops, and walking campaigns—encouraging everyday carbon-neutral practices among residents.

Honoring Veterans and Supporting Independence for People with Disabilities

Remembrance and Safety Campaigns

During the Month of Patriots and Veterans, volunteers cleaned memorial sites and held moments of silence to honor those who sacrificed for the nation.

In the summer, the Seongnam Branch conducted a heat-related illness prevention campaign, distributing cold beverages and safety information to residents during peak heatwaves.

Supporting Vocational Rehabilitation

The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch also assisted vocational rehabilitation centers for people with disabilities by providing workforce support. This hands-on assistance eased staffing shortages and helped participants focus on skill development and independence.

Continuing Forward With the Community

“Each activity this year was designed to create real, practical impact,” said the Seongnam Branch leader.

“Next year, we will continue to grow alongside our community and expand our volunteer efforts even further.”

Through steady action and heartfelt commitment, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch continues to demonstrate how small acts of service can build a warmer, more connected society.
