In a city where daily life often moves quickly, small acts of kindness can quietly reshape an entire community.
Throughout 2025, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch extended heartfelt care to 2,847 vulnerable residents, earning warm praise from the local community.
According to the Seongnam Branch, more than 600 volunteers took part in year-round service activities, reaching people with disabilities, elderly individuals living alone, and Korean War veterans. Their efforts reflected a consistent commitment to community care, environmental protection, and social solidarity.
Expanding Support for Elderly Residents Living Alone
Kimchi Sharing and Food Support Built with Care
One of the key focuses of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch in 2025 was expanding support for elderly residents living alone.
At the end of the year, volunteers personally handled every step of kimchi preparation—from trimming ingredients to mixing, packaging, and delivery.
As a result, 1,285 kg of homemade kimchi was delivered to 148 households through local welfare centers and veterans’ organizations, bringing comfort during the cold season.
Bread Sharing and Grooming Services for Daily Well-Being
Young volunteers also prepared to launch monthly bread-sharing activities, learning recipes from a veteran baker with over 20 years of experience. Carefully packaged baked goods were shared with 370 individuals, offering both nourishment and warmth.
In addition, volunteers regularly visited nursing facilities to provide grooming services, senior celebrations, and recreational programs—addressing not only physical needs but also emotional well-being.
Leading Environmental Cleanup and Carbon Reduction Efforts
Weekly Cleanups and Waste Reduction
Environmental stewardship was another pillar of the Seongnam Branch’s activities.
More than 300 volunteers participated in weekly cleanup efforts, collecting a total of 765 liters of household waste throughout the year.
Cleanup activities focused on riversides, major roads, and public parks, helping create safer and cleaner living spaces.
Earth-Friendly Campaigns for Sustainable Living
On Arbor Day and Earth Day, volunteers distributed succulents and vegetable seedlings, hosted upcycling art workshops using recycled materials, and organized walking campaigns to promote carbon neutrality.
These activities encouraged residents to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
Honoring Veterans and Supporting Independent Living for People with Disabilities
Memorial Care During Patriots and Veterans Month
During Patriots and Veterans Month, volunteers cleaned and maintained memorial monuments and held moments of silence to honor those who sacrificed for the nation.
These acts reflected a deep respect for history and remembrance.
Health and Employment Support Initiatives
During the summer heatwave season, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch ran a month-long heat-illness prevention campaign, providing cold beverages and health guidance to residents.
The branch also supported disability vocational rehabilitation centers facing labor shortages, assisting with daily operations and contributing to greater independence for people with disabilities.
A Year of Service Rooted in Consistency and Community
The head of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seongnam Branch shared,
“This year’s activities were designed to provide practical help across various areas—supporting vulnerable groups, protecting the environment, honoring veterans, and promoting health and safety. We will continue to expand our volunteer efforts while staying closely connected with the local community.”
