Citizen-participation volunteering by Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch

In 2025, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch quietly but steadily delivered meaningful support across Seodaemun-gu and Mapo-gu.

Through welfare sharing, environmental cleanup, and safety and awareness campaigns, the branch provided volunteer services to 2,775 people across 21 community locations.

Guided by the belief that “volunteering is not about grand words, but about offering help exactly when and where it is needed,” the Shincheonji Volunteer Group balanced regular donations, citizen-participation campaigns, and emotional care programs.

Rather than one-time events, their activities stayed rooted in everyday community life—focused on responsibility from preparation to completion.

Regular Sharing Through the “Chak-Chak Campaign”

Monthly Essential Goods Support for Food Markets and Welfare Institutions

A signature activity of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch is the monthly “Chak-Chak Campaign” (Good Giving, Good Consumption).

Each month, volunteers donated frequently needed items—such as cooking oil, sugar, salt, ramen, flour, and vinegar—to Mapo Happiness Sharing Food Market No. 2.

In addition, rice cake soup ingredients were delivered to home-care senior welfare institutions in Seodaemun-gu, helping bridge care gaps during holiday seasons.

Institution representatives shared appreciation, noting that early communication and thorough preparation made cooperation smoother, and that repeated encounters naturally built trust.

Beyond Delivery: Responsible On-Site Volunteering

From Preparation to Setup, Every Detail Matters

For the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch, donating goods was never the end point—it was the beginning.

At each delivery site, volunteers checked movement routes, used detailed checklists to prevent omissions, and prepared guidance materials and setups so beneficiaries could participate comfortably.

Some partner institutions shared that volunteers often arrived early, assisted with transport, and worked seamlessly with staff, significantly reducing on-site workload.

This approach reflected a commitment to volunteering that values responsibility, not convenience.

Citizen-Engaged Campaigns for Everyday Safety

Wildfire Prevention and Smoking Awareness Activities

Community campaigns expanded steadily throughout the year.

In spring, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch held a wildfire prevention campaign along the cherry blossom paths of Ansan in Seodaemun. Activities included environmental cleanup, wildfire awareness sticker distribution, and writing thank-you messages to firefighters. Citizens responded positively, sharing that such campaigns helped raise awareness about protecting nature.

From summer through fall, repeated smoking-cessation and cleanup campaigns were held in the Sinchon Yonsei-ro area. Interactive programs such as OX quizzes, non-smoking zone guidance, and promotional item distribution encouraged participation, while safety measures—crowd guidance and heatwave preparedness—were carefully maintained.

Emotional Care That Leaves a Lasting Impression

“Baekse Manse” Program for Senior Well-Being

Emotional care activities stood out through the “Baekse Manse” senior welfare support program.

The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch visited Hyorim Day Care Center, offering a mini concert, nail art, hand massages, and healthy snack kits.

Seniors were seen clapping, smiling, and holding volunteers’ hands in gratitude. The center also expressed positive feedback on the program’s atmosphere and organization, viewing future collaboration favorably.

The Power of Consistent Sincerity

A deputy branch leader of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch shared that activities were planned by listening to beneficiaries and reflecting on-site feedback month by month.

The keyword that defined the branch’s 2025 journey was “sustained sincerity.”

As one partner institution noted, “Material support is appreciated, but what truly moves us is the effort to prepare thoughtfully every time.”

Through consistency rather than spectacle, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seodaemun Branch left behind trust, warmth, and a sense of shared responsibility within the community.
