The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pohang Branch carried out a heartwarming New Year volunteer activity on January 3 at the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korea Green Foundation for the Disabled.
The event was part of the ongoing “Little Finger” volunteer initiative, which aims to break down social barriers between people with and without disabilities through everyday acts of care and connection.
To celebrate the New Year, volunteers prepared and shared yubu fortune pouches and tteokguk (rice cake soup)—traditional symbols of blessing and renewal—delivering messages of encouragement and solidarity to neighbors with disabilities.
A New Year Shared at the Same Table
Preparing Meals With Sincerity and Care
Early in the morning, volunteers from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pohang Branch personally transported ingredients and began cooking together in the kitchen.
They carefully prepared warm bowls of tteokguk and hand-crafted yubu fortune pouches, placing intention and care into each step of the process.
The completed meals were delivered to members of the foundation’s Gyeongbuk Branch, and the space quickly filled with smiles, greetings, and words of goodwill for the year ahead.
More Than a Donation, a Moment of Emotional Connection
This activity went beyond simply delivering food.
Volunteers sat with participants, shared conversations, laughed together, and exchanged New Year wishes—making the event a community-centered, emotional exchange rather than a one-directional act of giving.
Through these shared moments, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group sought to remind participants that genuine inclusion begins with presence, listening, and shared warmth.
Continuing a Path of Togetherness
A representative of the Pohang Branch explained that this activity focused more on sharing hearts than sharing goods, emphasizing the importance of emotional connection within the community.
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Pohang Branch plans to continue developing volunteer activities that respond to local needs while fostering deeper understanding and unity across social boundaries.
Through small but meaningful actions, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group continues to weave trust and care into the fabric of the local community.
