🌿 Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul East Branch Leads Winter Cleanup at Danghyeoncheon

Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul East Branch carried out a large-scale winter environmental cleanup at Danghyeoncheon in Nowon-gu, removing fallen leaves and waste to improve pedestrian safety and community comfort.

Winter often brings quiet beauty, but fallen leaves mixed with snow and rain can quickly turn into hidden hazards. At Danghyeoncheon in Nowon-gu, a community effort unfolded to ensure that seasonal beauty does not become a daily risk.

Preventing Winter Accidents Through Community Action

On December 20, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul East Branch announced that it had carried out a large-scale environmental cleanup along the Danghyeoncheon riverside to prevent pedestrian accidents caused by slippery fallen leaves.

A Focused Cleanup Along a High-Risk Section

As part of the “Let Nature Be Green” environmental campaign, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group conducted an intensive cleanup on December 19, covering approximately 250 meters of the Danghyeoncheon riverside.

Thirty volunteers participated in the activity, collecting around one ton of wet leaves and illegally dumped household waste.

This section had long been identified by residents as a high-risk area, especially during late autumn and winter when fallen leaves become soaked by snow and rain, increasing the likelihood of slips and falls.

From Environmental Care to Everyday Safety

For the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul East Branch, this activity was not simply about cleaning. It was a practical response to repeated resident concerns and an effort to create a safer walking environment for everyone who uses the riverside path.

“It Felt Like They Were Cleaning Their Own Home”

A resident in his 50s from Banghak-dong, who observed the activity on site, shared his impression.

He said he was deeply moved by how the volunteers cleaned the area with care, “as if they were tidying up their own front yard.”

Other passersby also expressed gratitude, noting that the volunteers reached areas often overlooked by administrative services and cleaned them thoroughly.

Continuing a Commitment to the Local Community

A representative from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Seoul East Branch emphasized that the meaning of the activity goes beyond leaf collection.

Small Actions That Improve Daily Life

According to the representative, the cleanup aimed to reduce everyday inconvenience for residents and to establish a safer pedestrian environment. The branch plans to continue engaging in activities that bring tangible benefits to the local community.

Through steady participation and hands-on service, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group continues to show how community-driven action can quietly but meaningfully improve daily life—one cleaned pathway at a time.
