Shincheonji Volunteer Group Andre Tribe Graduation Class Leads 1,700kg Kimchi Sharing Volunteer Event
Graduates of the 116th class of the Zion Christian Center in the Andre Tribe joined the Shincheonji Volunteer Group to prepare and deliver 1,700kg of kimchi to veterans, people with disabilities, and local residents through a large-scale community outreach event.
A Graduation Celebrated Through Sharing
The 116th graduating class of the Zion Christian Center in the Andre Tribe chose to celebrate their milestone in a meaningful way—by giving back to the community. Instead of holding a typical ceremony alone, the graduates partnered with the Shincheonji Volunteer Group to carry out a large kimchi-making service event that brought warmth and support to people across the region.
On December 6, more than 200 participants, including 100 graduates, gathered at the Andre Training Center to prepare fresh kimchi for local veterans, people with disabilities, and nearby residents. This initiative represented the graduates’ desire to translate what they learned into practical acts of kindness that directly reach their neighbors.
A Community-Driven Kimchi Sharing Event
1,700kg of Kimchi Prepared with Care
Graduates from churches in Gimhae, Jinju, Changwon, Jeju, and Ulsan joined the effort, creating a total of 1,700kg of kimchi. The prepared kimchi was delivered to the Busan Association for the Disabled, the Nam-gu Veterans Center in Busan, and the Busan Geumjeong District Veterans Association. A portion of the kimchi will also be shared with residents living near the training center.
Participants worked side-by-side, filling each cabbage with care and encouraging one another throughout the process. Many described the experience as a warm reminder that volunteering becomes more meaningful when shared.
A Volunteer Event Designed for Enjoyment
Rather than focusing solely on the kimchi-making process, organizers designed the event as a “volunteer festival.”
The site featured:
A snack zone with water, coffee, fish cake soup, and instant noodles
A photo zone with instant printing
A message wall where participants could leave notes
A kimchi contest where churches competed with their unique recipes
These additions elevated the atmosphere, making the event both productive and enjoyable.
Voices of the Participants
First-Time Volunteers Share Their Thoughts
For many graduates, this was their first volunteer experience.
One participant shared:
“I was worried because the morning was cold, but working with others made everything feel warm. I want to join again next time.”
Another volunteer expressed:
“It felt meaningful to put the teachings I learned into action. I had a great time thanks to all the preparation that went into this event.”
After the event, graduates gathered to enjoy freshly cooked pork with the kimchi they prepared—another moment of bonding and celebration.
Community Appreciation
Organizations that received the kimchi expressed heartfelt gratitude:
A local disability association representative said the support was “deeply touching.”
The Nam-gu Veterans Center commented that the donation “brought warmth and hope to many neighbors.”
Their responses reflected how impactful community-driven volunteer efforts can be, especially during challenging times.
The Significance of Service After Graduation
The leader of the Andre Tribe expressed appreciation for the graduates’ participation, emphasizing that completing the program is only the beginning. He noted that practicing what they learned—through sharing, caring, and serving—creates deeper meaning and strengthens the connection with the local community.
Representatives of the Andre Tribe also shared that more social contribution projects are planned for the future, aiming to continue building a culture of steady, heartfelt volunteerism.
A Warm Start for a New Journey
The kimchi-sharing event was more than a community service—it was a symbolic first step for the 116th graduating class. By celebrating their accomplishments through giving, the graduates embodied the spirit of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group: serving with sincerity and contributing to the well-being of society.
Their efforts added warmth to the community, showing how even one volunteer event can spark connection, hope, and positive change.
