Creating meaningful change often begins with simple acts of kindness. The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan Branch continues to be a light in the community by offering not only meals but also sincere companionship to seniors in need. Their most recent volunteer event demonstrated the power of emotional care in improving the quality of life for the elderly.
🌿 Strengthening Emotional Bonds Through Meal Sharing
On October 24, volunteers from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan Branch visited a senior club in Yongsan, Seoul. Welcoming 15 seniors, volunteers prepared traditional Korean meals including sticky rice and side dishes, ensuring both nutritional value and heartfelt care.
Each step—from food preparation to serving and clean-up—was thoughtfully organized to provide a smooth and warm dining experience. The systematic approach showed the volunteers’ respect for the seniors and their commitment to excellence.
🗣 Companion Care: The Heart of the Program
This volunteer activity went beyond providing meals. The initiative focused on emotional care through conversation. Volunteers sat down with each senior, spoke warmly, listened attentively, and offered a space for them to share their feelings and concerns—helping reduce feelings of isolation often experienced in old age.
There was even an impromptu "mini concert" featuring singing and applause, adding joyful energy to the space.
💬 Feedback and Future Plans
One participant shared:
“It was touching to see how thoughtfully the food was prepared. I hope this happens more often.”
A representative from the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan Branch stated:
“We aim to continue visiting regularly and expanding our collaboration with local institutions to help build a stronger safety net for senior welfare.”
To date, the Namsan Branch has held 10 similar activities this year, proving their long-term commitment to serving the elderly.
With each visit, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan Branch is building a more compassionate and connected community. Their work affirms the importance of meeting not just physical needs, but emotional ones, especially among older adults.
