🌱 Protecting Nature Through Action
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Yeonsu Branch carried out an environmental cleanup and wildfire prevention awareness campaign around Cheongnyangsan Mountain and Cheongryong Park in Yeonsu District.
This initiative was organized to raise awareness about the heightened risk of wildfires during the autumn foliage season, as dry weather and increased hikers contribute to potential fire hazards.
🔥 Raising Awareness on Wildfire Prevention
During the event, volunteers collected trash along hiking trails and conducted an educational campaign for citizens.
They explained key wildfire prevention rules, how to respond during a fire, the difference between arson and negligence, and the legal consequences of causing wildfires.
According to the Korea Forest Service, anyone who intentionally starts a wildfire may face 7 to 15 years in prison, while even accidental fires can lead to up to 3 years in prison or fines of up to 30 million KRW.
Furthermore, lighting fires or bringing flammable materials into forests or nearby areas without permission can result in fines reaching up to 1 million KRW.
💬 Voices from the Community
A representative from the Yeonsu Branch emphasized,
“A single act of carelessness can cause irreversible damage to mountains and ecosystems. Every resident must stay alert and work together to protect our natural environment.”
Through this campaign, volunteers hoped to instill a strong sense of responsibility among local citizens and encourage everyone to take part in preserving nature.
🌿 Continuing Efforts for a Safer, Greener Future
The Yeonsu Branch plans to continue its environmental protection and fire prevention activities throughout the year, fostering collaboration between citizens and communities to keep nature clean and safe.
